What a move-out clean costs
Move-in and move-out cleans are $50 per hour with a 6 hour minimum, which puts the starting price at $300. The minimum is higher than any other Luxora service because an empty home shows everything. There is no furniture hiding the baseboards, no boxes covering the closet floors, and no rug over the marks by the door.
Standard Clean
2.5 hour minimum
Deep Clean
3 hour minimum
Move-In / Out
6 hour minimum
From the minimum, the total is the hours your home actually needs. Most move-out cleans run 4 to 6 hours, so the six hour minimum covers the majority of homes. A larger home that has been lived in for years uses all of it, and you get a clear quote before anything is booked.
The same rate and the same scope apply to a move-in clean. The home is empty either way, and the standard does not change: clean enough that the next person through has nothing to flag.
Why a move-out clean costs more than a deep clean
A deep clean resets a home you are still living in. A move-out clean is a top-to-bottom deep clean of an empty home, and it goes further. Every appliance is cleaned inside and out, not just the exterior. Every cabinet, drawer and closet is wiped inside. Walls, scuffs and switch plates are all part of the job.
That extra scope is what the higher hourly rate and the longer minimum pay for. It is also what makes the difference at inspection time.
There is the damage deposit to think about as well. When a landlord holds part of it back over cleaning, the re-clean and the delay usually cost more than booking the job properly the first time, which is why a move-out clean is often the cheaper path.
The move-out cleaning checklist
This is what a Luxora move-out clean covers from the moment the home is empty:
- All appliances cleaned inside and out, including the oven and fridge
- Every cabinet, drawer and closet wiped inside and out
- Walls spot-cleaned, scuffs removed, switch plates wiped
- Baseboards and light fixtures
- Window sills, tracks and blinds
- A detailed grout and tile scrub in the kitchen and bathrooms
- Bathrooms fully descaled and sanitized
- Floors vacuumed and mopped in every room
The goal is simple. The home should hold up to the inspection, whether that is a landlord, a property manager or the buyers who just took possession.
What a landlord actually checks
Inside the appliances
Appliance interiors are the easiest thing to run out of time for on moving day. Both are cleaned inside and out as part of the service, not as an add-on.
Inside the cabinets and closets
Crumbs, dust and sticky shelf liner are easy to miss when you are also packing. Every shelf and drawer gets wiped.
Walls and switch plates
Scuffs from furniture and fingerprints around light switches are the small things that read as neglected. They are part of the clean.
Bathroom build-up
Hard Calgary water leaves spots on glass, taps and tile. A descale and grout scrub is included so the bathroom looks like it did on day one.
Most of these are small things on their own. Together they decide whether the home reads as cleaned or as vacated, and that is really what an inspection is judging.
Timing your move-out clean
Book the clean for after everything is out and before the final walkthrough. Most move-out cleans run 4 to 6 hours, so a morning start usually means the home is done the same day.
Month-end and July 1 are the common possession dates in Calgary. If your possession date lands on one of them, book as early as you can so you are not cleaning on the day you hand back the keys.
If time is tight before the walkthrough, the kitchen and bathrooms matter most. They are what an inspection looks at first, and they take the longest to bring back once they have been let go.
Getting into an empty home
The home is empty on the day, so access gets sorted when the clean is booked rather than worked out on the doorstep. Most people do one of four things:
- Meet Sandy at the door and let her in
- Leave a key somewhere agreed in advance
- Give her a building or door code
- Use a lockbox
Any of them work. Confirm which one you are using when you book, and the clean starts on time instead of waiting on a key.
Booking a move-out clean in Calgary
A move-out clean is easiest to book once you have a possession date. Send it with the size of the home and Sandy will quote it, usually within two hours, for homes across Calgary, Cochrane, Airdrie and Chestermere.
The move-in and move-out cleaning page has the full scope if you are moving in rather than out. If the home will still be lived in for a while, a deep clean may be the better fit, and the Calgary house cleaning cost guide explains how each service is priced.
